Joseph J. M. Hoffer
 

Joe practices administrative law, with particular emphasis on Rent Control, Condominium Law, Property Tax Appeals, Real Estate Litigation, Municipal and Land Use Planning Law, and Expropriations Law.  Joe is a University of Western Ontario Gold Medallist, having earned both his Honours Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws Degrees at the University of Western Ontario. He joined the firm in 1988, following his call to the Bar.  Joe is the author of the text "A Practical Guide to the Tenant Protection Act" (1999 - Canada Law Book), and has authored numerous articles on Residential Tenancies Law and Condominium Legislation.

 

He has participated in continuing education seminars on behalf of the Canadian Bar Association, the Law Society of Upper Canada, Insight, the Real Estate Institute of Canada, and other organizations. Joe has addressed the Institute of Housing Management, the London Property Management Association, the Paralegal Society of Ontario, the Appraisal Institute of Canada, and many community groups and private organizations. In addition, he has served as an instructor in the Administrative Law Section of the Bar Admission Course.

 

Joe is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, the Ontario Expropriation Association, the London Property Management Association, Amnesty International, the Greater Toronto Apartment Association, the Ontario Manufactured Housing Association and the Fair Rental Policy Organization of Ontario.

 

Joe appears before a variety of municipal councils and committees, boards and tribunals, including the Ontario Court of Appeal, the Divisional Court of Ontario, the Ontario Municipal Board, the Ontario Rental Housing Tribunal, the Assessment Review Board and the Alcohol and Gaming Commission.
