Cohen Highley are proud to announce that we have registered as Exhibitors for the Rehabilitation and Life Care Planning Symposium.  This two day symposium is a non-profit event with proceeds going towards the Ontario Brain Injury Association (OBIA) and the Spinal Cord Injury Ontario (SCI Ontario).  The symposium will cover a wide array of topics relating to rehabilitation as well as providing excellent opportunities to network, share experiences, and learn.


Recent Involvements

BMO Boolathon - After months of grueling training, Cohen Highley's All-Star team of Jaime Bell, Ben Blay, Gene Chiarello, Landon Hang, and Captain Brian Phillips participated in the 2012 BMO Boolathon. The event was held to fund-raise for the Kids Help Phone, the only 24-hour professional counselling service for kids available in the community. From bowling with their opposite hands, using their feet, and ultimately bowling through the entire team's legs, their hard work paid off raising over $800.00 for the charity and bowling over 200...the total of all their scores that is.

Drop Zone 2012 - Cohen Highley staff members from both our London office and Kitchener office participated in Easter Seals Drop Zone. Joe Hoffer, Erin Klodt, Deborah Phibbs, Kathleen Lynch, and Lori Sprott together raised more than $8,200 for Easter Seals charity and rappelled down the sides of One London Place in London and the Masland Building in Kitchener.

Cohen Highley Classic Horse Show - Cohen Highley is proud to support our young riders in the Cohen Highley Classic for a 2nd year. The Cohen Highley Classic is 2 foot nine inch hunter class open to all riders held 4 times in the summer at the Ilderton Fair Grounds as part of the London Horsemanship Club.

Camp Dawn - September 13-16, 2012 - Cohen Highley is a proud silver sponsor of this camp to provide adult survivors of acquired brain injuries with new opportunities to develop independence and social skills.

Royal LePage Triland Golf Tournament - June 7, 2012 - Cohen Highley was a hole sponsor for the Royal LePage Triland 2012 Golf Tournament.

McCormick Park Tree Planting - Cohen Highley staff participated in the McCormick Park Tree Planting efforts to reforest McCormick Park. Overall the team planted hundreds of trees.

Helping In Haiti - Cohen Highley staff member Deborah Phibbs was sponsored by the firm to go to Haiti on a volunteer effort.

Royal LePage Triland Golf Tournament - June 7, 2012 - Cohen Highley was a hole sponsor for the Royal LePage Triland 2012 Golf Tournament.

A Christmas Carol - Don & Joan Smith present a dramatic reading of Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" on December 14th at 7pm, featuring music by Orchestra London with The London Singers & H. B. Beal Secondary School Singers; and featuring our very own Lucy Lee as one of the readers. Cohen Highley is a proud sponsor of the event which is being held at Centennial Hall in support of Unity Project for Relief of Homelessness and Orchestra London (poster).

Drop Zone - Cohen Highley staff members Angie Snider and Alex Farmer participated in the first annual Easter Seals Drop Zone and "enjoyed" an unforgetable view of North London while rappelling down the side of One London Place. Angie and Alex raised over $3,000 for the charity.

CPA Wheelchair Relay - The Cohen Highley team was proud to participate in the Canadian Paraplegic Association (CPA) Wheelchair Relay, held on October 15, 2011, which raised $36,000 for the organization. Cohen Highley was awarded the honour of being the Top Fundraising Legal Team and the Most Determined Team. Cohen Highley team member, Ben Blay, was the Top Individual Fundraiser for the event. The CPA is an organization that assists people with spinal cord injuries and other physical disabilities to achieve independence in the community.


On-going and Past Involvements

Autumn Indulgence (website) - Proud sponsor of the 8th annual event in support of local and international community projects through The Rotary Club of Grand Bend.

St. Joseph's Tribute Dinner (website) - Partner sponsor of the 2011 event in support of The Spirit of St. Joseph's Health Care Fund.

Pawlooza (website) - Official Sponsor, since 2009, of the event in support of Animal Rescue Foundation Ontario and LEADS Employment Services.

Rock the Park (website) - Since 2007, Cohen Highley has been an ongoing sponsor of the event in support of Bethany's Hope Foundation, proudly contributing more than $50,000 towards the cause.

Lawyers Feed the Hungry (website) - Cohen Highley has consistently been involved with food collection events and fundraising efforts in London. Kristin Ley serves on the Local committee and Joe Hoffer volunteers at agencies directly involved with hunger relief efforts.

Court House Rocks (more information), in support of the London Lawyers Feed the Hungry - In addition to being a major sponsor for the event, Cohen Highley has been a consistent participant of this annual evening of live musical entertainment by local lawyers, judges and other members of the legal community. Kristin Ley and Rachel Henderson are actively involved in the organization and implementation of the event, and in the past lawyers and staff have even participated as performers.

Community Living London (website) - In addition to actively serving on the Board of Directors, Cohen Highley staff continue to be active participants in fundraising events for this charity. Cohen Highley is the recipient of Community Living London's Award of Excellence since 2003.

A Night of Heroes (website), in support of Community Living London - A local event celebrating our local heroes. Since 2009, Cohen Highley has been directly involved with organization of this event and as a corporate sponsor.

Annual Cohen Highley Charity Golf Tournament, in support of Community Living London - Currently in our 19th year (details), our tournament has raised approximately $150,000 through the generous support of sponsors and participants in the last 6 years.

London Abused Women's Shelter - We raise money throughout the year so that we can assist two or three families to have an enjoyable Christmas. We receive a wish list for a number of families from the Shelter and with the money raised during the year and in October and November we purchase, wrap and deliver the gifts to the Shelter for distribution to the families.

LEADS Employment Services (website) - A non-profit organization that assists hard to place individuals to obtain employment. Lucy Lee and Sarah Low serve on the Board of Directors. Cohen Highley is a significant sponsor of LEADS fundraising events.

Fair Rental Policy Organization of Ontario (website) - Joe Hoffer is a member of the Legislative Review Committee and Property Tax Committee. Joe was named Member of the Year in 2008 at the FRPO's Marketing, Achievement and Construction Awards.

London Property Management Association (website) - Emma Sims serves as Second Vice-President of the Board of Directors, and Paul Cappa is the past President of the Association. Paul is now actively involved with The Federation of Rental-Housing Providers of Ontario and the Ontario Manufactured Housing Association.

Community Seminars and Forums - Many of our professionals provide continued support to the community through organization and participation in many free legal seminars and through involvement in post-secondary teaching.

University of Western Ontario - Cohen Highley has consitently provided support to the University and Pro Bono Students Canada program to assist in supplying free legal advice to non-profit organizations in the community and to enhancing the legal education of law students. As well, a number of associates and partners at the firm volunteer their time as judges for moot court and client counselling competitions. Cohen Highley is also a consistent financial supporter of events at the law school.

University of Western Ontario Tort Law Research Group (website) - Cohen Highley is delighted to be sponsoring the 2011-2012 Public Lecture Series.

SARI - A charitable volunteer-based organization which has been providing therapeutic horse riding and driving for children and adults with special needs since 1978. Cohen Highley has been an annual sponsor for various events.

CFAA 2011 Canadian Rental Housing Conference (more information) - Cohen Highley is a Silver Sponsor for the event and is presenting at this years conference.
