Alexandra attended the University of Western Ontario where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Philosophy and graduated with distinction and on the Dean’s Honour List. She was a recipient of two scholarships awarded for the highest academic achievement.
Alexandra pursued an intensive business-focused joint Canadian and American law program at the University of Windsor and University of Detroit Mercy Law Schools. She obtained her Canadian Bachelor of Laws and U.S. Juris Doctor Degrees in 2007. Alexandra was the recipient of an award in the law of NAFTA and a Certificate of Recognition for the Third National S.O. Law Moot Court competition for her outstanding performances.
While attending law school, Alexandra volunteered as a Case Worker for the Community Legal Aid Clinic, and was an upper year mentor to students in the joint program. Alexandra was also a Tutorial Assistant for the J.D./LL.B. legal writing and research course and a Senior Editor and Selections Editor for the Windsor Review of Legal and Social Issues.
During the summer of 2006, Alexandra served as a judicial law clerk under the Honorable James M. Biernat in the Civil/Criminal Division of the Macomb County Circuit Court for the Sixteenth Judicial Circuit of Michigan, where she assisted in the drafting of judicial opinions, reviewing motions, and conducting legal research, among other things.
Alexandra started at Cohen Highley as an articling student in 2007. She joined the Personal Injury department in June 2008, after she was called to the Ontario Bar. Alexandra’s practice focuses on personal injury and insurance defence matters, including: motor vehicle accidents, statutory accident benefits, slip/trip and falls, physical assault claims, long term disability claims, and CPP disability disputes. She has also represented clients in contract disputes and assisted in the Indian Residential Schools compensation proceedings.
Alexandra has appeared before the following institutions: Ontario Superior Court, Financial Services Commission of Ontario, Office of the Commissioner of Review Tribunals, Pensions Appeals Board, Criminal Injuries Compensation Board and the Human Rights Tribunal.
Alexandra is also fluent in Romanian.
