Lori Sprott practices as part of Cohen Highley’s litigation and insurance defence group. She joined Cohen Highley in 2012 after serving her articles and first few years of practice with a national law firm in Waterloo Region.
Lori’s expertise includes a wealth of experience in dealing with statutory accident benefits. She has handled numerous matters before the Financial Services Commission in both mediation and arbitration, and has also dealt with loss transfer matters and priorities disputes between insurers. In addition to her insurance experience, Lori has handled a number of employment matters throughout her career. Her comprehensive approach to the dispute process includes a thorough and detailed file analysis and, where warranted, recommendations for reasonable settlement. Lori is known for seeking out pragmatic and cost effective solutions for her clients.
Lori completed her law degree at the University of Western Ontario in 2007 and was called to the bar in 2008. Prior to studying law, she completed an undergraduate degree in Chemistry as one of 23 national recipients of the Terry Fox Humanitarian Award. During her time in law school, Lori successfully lead a student team in its completion of an extensive research project as part of Pro Bono Students Canada. She was recognised by that organization as an “Outstanding Volunteer”. In 2006 she represented Western Law at the national Laskin Moot Court Competition in Halifax. Over and above her regular courses, Lori also completed a certificate in mediation and dispute resolution.
Having grown up under the prairie sky, Lori is now long established with her husband in his hometown of Kitchener-Waterloo.
